A unique artistic tradition in the world of wine
Since 1945, each vintage of Mouton Rothschild has featured a label designed by a contemporary artist. This bold idea, initiated by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, has become a defining signature of the estate. Wine tasting here goes beyond the glass, each bottle is also a collectible work of art.
Over the years, world renowned artists have contributed to these labels, including Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and David Hockney.
Iconic vintages and memorable labels
Some vintages have left a lasting mark on history. In 1973, the label designed by Picasso celebrated Mouton Rothschild’s elevation to First Growth status. Then, In 1993, a label was censored in the United States, highlighting the fact that artistic expression is an essential part of the Mouton identity. To finish, In 2000, the estate released a gold embossed label to celebrate the arrival of the new millennium.
